When sport together with others is part of the cure

Great success for “Pedalando con il cuore”, a two-day e-bike tour through the Crete Senesi organized by AICARM. The pilot project involved 10 participants, 7 of whom had Cardiomyopathy and 3 of them with ICD, invited with specific criteria and followed by specialized doctors. It was not just a sporting event - say three participants, Marco Brunetti, Sandro Cantini and Salvatore Gumina - but a moment of authentic sharing, of rebirth, of hope. It is the demonstration that some patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy can perform even moderate physical activity.

Pedaling with Heart: E-Bike for Cardiac Health

AICARM has launched a pilot project to promote heart health. It is called “Pedalando con il cuore” (Pedaling with the heart) and consists of a two-day e-bike tour through the Crete Senesi. The goal is to promote physical activity that improves the quality of life of patients. This experiment involves 10 participants followed by specialized doctors and is preliminary to the organization of a large event planned for next September to involve a large number of people and attract partners.

Dangerous loves: Salvatore has a new bicycle

Everything is ready for the presentation of Il Cuore Grande, stories of women and men facing the challenge of cardiomyopathies, the book was born around the stories of twenty patients, or their families, edited by the journalist Laura D'Ettole and Professor Franco Cecchi, President of AICARM. Starting in October, the Association will give life to a series of initiatives, starting with the presentation to the public and the press (Villa Bardini, 14 October). As an anticipation for those who have not already had or have obtained the volume, which is distributed free of charge to members who request it, we are publishing one of the twenty testimonials.

Cycling and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, an impossible combination? Not anymore thanks to the technology of e-bikes otherwise called pedalec. This type of bicycle, with the help of an electric motor, allows you to pedal while greatly reducing physical fatigue. Hence the name pedalec which refers precisely to pedaling. It should be immediately understood that the motor does not replace the cyclist who must always pedal but reduces the physical effort typical of demanding routes such as climbing.
