The time it takes for the drug to actually be available depends on the procedures and specific organization of individual regions, and several months may pass between the publication of the reimbursement notice in the Official Journal and the conclusion of the required administrative process.
There are three procedural steps, which include: identifying the Prescribing Centers and their respective distribution methods and channels; listing the drug in their respective Hospital Therapeutic Formularies (PTO); and executing and finalizing the drug procurement procedures by the relevant Regional Authorities (through centralized regional tenders).
Information on the regional centers authorized to prescribe in each region and the date from which prescriptions will be authorized for patients who meet the criteria reported by AIFA will be regularly published on the AICARM website.
