More than 150 participants including members, sponsors and speakers, mainly from Tuscany and with teachers from all over Italy. These are the numbers Masterclass Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and cardiac amyloidosis which took place on 8 and 9 June 2023 in the Auditorium at the Cathedral of Florence. 

Cardiomyopathies MasterclassThe purpose of the course was to provide participants with an exhaustive and up-to-date picture of the pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of patients, transmitting the clinical and research experience gained in over 40 years in the Center of Florence at Careggi and at Meyer. Experts from the most prestigious national institutions have added the high value of their expertise, ranging from basic sciences to cardiac surgery, from genetic diagnosis to new pharmacological perspectives and gene therapy. 

Two aspects ensured the success of the course organized by the Scientific Committee made up of Francesco Cappelli (Centre for the study and treatment of Amyloidosis AOU Careggi, Florence), Iacopo Olivotto (Full Professor of Cardiovascular Diseases University of Florence AOU Meyer , Florence) and Federico Perfetto (Centre for the study and treatment of Amyloidosis AOU Careggi, Florence).

In the first place the practical, informal and interactive cut of the relationships and, on the same level of educational effectiveness, the Workshops which also saw small groups work on concrete cases with all the documentation necessary for the evaluation of the diagnoses.

The absolute novelty of the 2023 Masterclass was the direct participation of representatives of patient associations. The shareholder Matteo Pinciroli, Chairman of the Council of Cardiomyopathy Association in the Global Heart Hub spoke to illustrate the objectives and development of AICARM's activity, representing AICARM, the global alliance of patient associations. Pinciroli analyzed the work indicators of the Association, all of which are significantly up, and highlighted the results achieved also thanks to the constant attention to the information and support needs of the community of patients and doctors, to awareness campaigns, to the collaboration international level and continuous dialogue with the Italian and European parliamentary institutions.
