AICARM has launched a pilot project to promote heart health. It's called "Pedalando con il cuore" (Pedaling with the Heart) and consists of a two-day e-bike tour through the Crete Senesi. The goal is to promote physical activity that improves patients' quality of life.
Professor Martina Smorti, Professor of Developmental Psychology at the University of Pisa, conducted, in collaboration with the Cardiomyopathy Unit of Careggi and with the support of AICARM, a survey on the psychological impact of the disease on young patients. Support groups were created for late adolescents and young adults in which it was evident that sharing the disease with other children is useful for promoting communication about cardiomyopathy even in broader social relationships.
Adapting the amount of water based on individual needs and environmental conditions is an effective way to contribute to overall and heart health. For this reason it is good to know and follow EFSA's recommendations.
Second installment of the AICARMNews series on the answers doctors, analysts and therapists give to the most frequent questions they hear from patients. This time to answer is Guendalina Rossi, psychiatrist and psychotherapist. These are five questions that summarize the doubts, worries and anxieties of those who encounter the disease for the first time. "The answers - says Dr. Rossi - certainly do not exhaust or fully satisfy curiosity and the need to know, but we hope they can stimulate interest in further study"
A proper diet allows you to contain the symptoms often complained of by patients with cardiomyopathy and lead a peaceful life. The scientific world has long agreed on the great potential of proper nutrition and its beneficial influence on health, but what are the rules to follow for a patient suffering from cardiomyopathy? These guidelines are taken from the latest version published in America.
Driver's license renewal: for those who have a subcutaneous defibrillator it is chaos. The Commission for special licenses follows very strict guidelines approved by the association of medical examiners Asl, however never adopted by the Tuscany Region.
Cycling and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy—an impossible combination? Not anymore, thanks to e-bike technology, also known as pedalecs. This type of bicycle, powered by an electric motor, allows you to pedal while significantly reducing physical effort. Hence the name pedalec, which refers to the act of pedaling.
It should be understood immediately that the engine does not replace the cyclist who must always pedal but reduces the physical effort typical of demanding routes such as climbing.
The "Via del Cuore" is a project by AICARM ONLUS which aims to promote the well-being and longevity of patients suffering from Cardiomyopathy and help them to re-establish an active and healthy lifestyle.
Our friend Giorgio Raddi tells us in a funny way what and how we ate in the Florentine district of San Frediano just under 100 years ago. Fortunately, times have changed today and we can take advantage of the practical advice of nutritionist Emma Balsimelli.
