A Healthy Association
Projects and Activities Carried Out in 2024
The President illustrated the numerous activities carried out by the association during the year:
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation courses: organized both for patients' relatives and in schools, with the aim of raising awareness among institutions on the importance of introducing these courses into school curricula.
- “Listening Hearts” Service: a listening desk dedicated to cardiomyopathies that has managed approximately 420 contacts, offering support to patients and their families.
- Courses for experienced patients: held in Milan and Florence, with further courses planned for 2025 in other cities.
- Heart Library and Video Library: information resources accessible from the association's website, with scientifically accurate content on cardiomyopathies.
- Communication: publication of 11 issues of AICARM News, over a thousand people subscribe to the newsletter.
- Research: support for research projects on the psychological well-being of patients with cardiomyopathy.
- Institutional initiatives: presentation to the Senate of the Republic of the first “Report on cardiomyopathies in Italy” (Cardiomyopathies Matter), with proposals to improve early diagnosis, assistance and training.
“AICARM is a healthy association, with fundraising capabilities and that uses its resources well. The results are eloquent both in terms of revenue, which grew by 27%, net assets and liquidity.”— Dr. Sandro Cantini

Territorial Expansion and Projects
A topic of particular interest that emerged during the meeting was the expansion of the association's activities in other regions of Italy, particularly in Sicily and Sardinia. The President stressed the importance of creating local groups of members who can plan and implement initiatives in the area. For Sicily, a course for expert patients was announced in Ragusa, scheduled for September 2025, and a collaboration for the "Comunità Cardioprotetta" project in Vittoria. A new member from Sardinia, Domenico Bianco, raised the interesting possibility of accessing community funds to finance local projects.
