Those who have cardiomyopathy can sometimes experience symptoms, such as palpitations, fatigue, chest pains that lead to imagine their evolution, evoking anxiety and worry. In these cases being able to have a recording of the electrocardiogram (ECG) and then a quick and reliable response could make the difference and calm the state of anxiety, finding serenity. However, it is not always possible to have an ECG and a report from a cardiologist or, better still, from your trusted cardiologist. We have all been able to see how the state of health emergency in recent months has further complicated the life of the patient with cardiomyopathy, with closed clinics. So doing an ECG means going to the hospital emergency room and exposing yourself to a possible contagion which is a risk condition with potentially very serious effects for a person considered "fragile".

There are devices on the market that are able to record a single channel ECG for a few seconds (in the standard ECG there are 12 channels recorded). Small tools have been available for years, but they need to transfer the recordings to a computer. Today there are also digital wrist watches, which allow you to obtain this recording with few artifacts due to muscle movements or stiffness - situations that when we are anxious are very likely - and transmit the image obtained via the smartphone, using email or WhatsApp. , as well as the photos are transmitted. In these cases, the cardiologist may have important indications such as, for example, highlighting the presence of a rhythm disturbance. Unfortunately, the immediate availability of the cardiologist is not usually ensured.

The project "D-Heart the patient with Cardiomyopathy is one click away from his cardiologist", - project extensively described on our website (Visit: D-Heart project) - aims to record an ECG with 8 or 12 channels, and guarantee a rapid reporting service carried out by medical personnel of proven competence, always available.

AICARM, in recent days, he presented this project to some banking institutions and foundations of national importance, asking for funding that will enable this service to be activated in a large group of selected patients with cardiomyopathy.

The project offers a 24-hour urgent reporting service performed by cardiologists at San Raffaele in Milan or, if not urgent, by their own treating cardiologist. The reporting takes place on the basis of the trace performed with a latest generation and easy to use ECG device: the D-Heart.Smartphone Ecg trace This device was developed thanks to the idea of Dr. Niccolò Maurizi, a cardiologist trained at the school of Prof. Cecchi and Prof. Olivotto. In the past few days, the national newspaper la Repubblica has offered us an interview that you can read here: Dr Maurizi interview on Repubblica.it. For those interested in more information on the device, you can find it on the website of the company that developed it by following the following link: What is D-Heart.

The AICARM project is certainly very ambitious and of great help for patients with Cardiomyopathy. There is no doubt that the health emergency of recent months has highlighted its social and health need. The data collected by this assistance project will also have scientific value, with an analysis to be carried out at 6,12, 24 and XNUMX months from its launch to document the effectiveness and usefulness of D Heart and their subsequent disclosure.

We hope to be able to give you good news as soon as possible about the possible financing and therefore the implementation of the AICARM project "D-Heart the patient with Cardiomyopathy is one click away from his cardiologist".
