We start 2021 with the hope that vaccines will be able to avoid getting sick with SARS-Cov-2 virus infection, to limit the spread of the infection, to stop the ban on circulating and socializing and above all to resume school and work activities that are now limited. We must in fact remember that two founding members of AICARM unfortunately passed away in 2020 due to the complications of the virus. So we all follow the advice to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Getting vaccinated is useful for everyone and in particular for patients with cardiomyopathy!

As some of you already know, we have decided to periodically publish a newsletter on our website www.aicarm.it containing useful information for all patients with Cardiomyopathy. We will cover medical topics related to the pathology, as well as stories and experiences of our patients, and even anecdotes to smile a little together. And don't forget to follow us also on our social channels (Instagram, LinkedIn, Youtube).

The first newsletter of 2021 begins with Prof. Olivotto's article on the new drug Mavacantem, which, the first of its kind, opens up new possibilities for the treatment of Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy. The hope is that others can follow it for other forms of cardiomyopathy as well. Appropriately, the second article illustrates the methods of developing new drugs and their potential benefits. Our friend Giorgio Raddi tells us in a funny way what and how we ate in the Florentine district of San Frediano just under 100 years ago. Fortunately, times have changed today and we can take advantage of the practical advice of nutritionist Emma Balsimelli. After the holidays we really need to get rid of the excess weight and get back… in the belts!
