The 2025 Assembly and the programs for the current year
Dear friends of AICARM,
we have just held the Annual Members' Meeting during which we presented the 2024 Annual Report in the beautiful graphic design created by our communication volunteers. If you do not already have it, you can consult it online on the website or request a copy from our offices. It is the story of an Association that has increased the quantity and quality of services, that has equipped itself with information and communication tools using the most modern digital technologies and that has brought the most important realities of diagnosis and treatment of cardiomyopathies into national dialogue.
Association budget approved: growing resources, expanding activities
AICARM APS (Associazione italiana cardiomiopatie) is a growing reality, with a solid project and a constant commitment to improving the quality of life of patients with cardiomyopathy, the main purpose of the association. The excellent state of health of the Association was confirmed by the Annual Assembly held on May 7, 2025 and approved the budget unanimously.
Objective: to spread the culture of first aid like wildfire

Gaetano Giarratana, anesthetist and resuscitator, founded an association and promoted the Vittoria Cardioprotetta 2025 project, the culmination of an activity aimed at training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of defibrillators, especially in nurseries and nursing homes. It all started with the dramatic experience of a little girl who died suddenly from cardiac arrest. The encounter with AICARM was natural: “We recognized ourselves in its values and decided to walk together, while maintaining our local identity,” he says.

The Cardiomyopathy Diagnosis and Treatment Center in Florence: an excellence at the service of patients
The 2024 yearbook published by the Intercompany Center for Innovation and Research for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Cardiomyopathies directed by Prof. Iacopo Olivotto confirms the level of quality and excellence achieved, becoming a point of reference for diagnosis, treatment and research in this important sector of cardiology. In reporting its activity, AICARM hopes to be able to open a dialogue with other Italian centers so that a network of collaboration and information for patients is created at a national level.
New scientific evidence: the Mediterranean diet is good for the heart
May is a special month for AICARM: we dedicate it to better understanding the benefits of nutrition. However, we will not do it alone, but accompanied by one of the major international experts in this field, namely Dr. Sara Farnetti, with whom we will be able to discuss in the webinar on May 21st. Absolutely not to be missed.
Webinar on Nutrition in Cardiomyopathies on May 21st
On May 21st, we will talk about “Nutrition in Cardiomyopathies”, with Sara Farnetti, specialist in Internal Medicine and Functional Nutrition. During the 60 minutes of the event, focus on specific dietary recommendations and space for questions from participants via chat.
All webinars can be viewed online on the AICARM website where they are published after each appointment.
CPR Courses Sold Out, New Dates in Fall
The CPR courses on March 22 and May 10 concluded with full houses, confirming the high interest in first aid training.
Both events were held at the AICARM APS headquarters, Via dello Studio 5 – Florence with the trainer Paolo De Cillis. The courses, lasting 4 and a half hours, include practical sessions with a mannequin and defibrillator.
Due to high demand, additional dates are planned starting next fall.
The 2024 Report is online
The 2024 Annual Report is available on the AICARM website, confirming the association's commitment to responsibility and transparency. Now in its second publication, the report is a map of the goals achieved: from the numbers of the Listening Hearts Service to the BLSD courses for families and schools, through the Videoteca del Cuore and training projects with record participation. In addition to illustrating the use of resources, the document certifies the concrete impact of AICARM in improving the lives of patients and families, promoting awareness and supporting the community.
