New models for patient safety
New models for patient safety
Dear friends of AICARM,
in this second issue of 2025 of AICARM NEWS we tell the story of a growing Association that strengthens its presence in the territory through concrete initiatives. The beating heart remains the commitment of the volunteers, who with the listening service offer fundamental support to patients and their families. The periodic appointment with the webinars sees an increasingly wider participation, while the “Comunità Cardioprotetta” project expands with the aim of creating a widespread network for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. For this reason, AICARM aims to build increasingly stronger synergies with institutions, schools and associations in the territory.
Towards the “Cardioprotected Community”
Towards the “Cardioprotected Community”
AICARM has launched the project “Comunità Cardioprotetta” with the aim of experimenting, evaluating and spreading a model of organization of cardiopulmonary resuscitation on a territorial scale. Five pilot areas have been identified with the involvement of local institutions that will then manage and expand them. The experimentation is divided into various phases: the choice of places for the installation of the AEDs, training for the people who work in those places, the gradual extension of the model to schools, parishes, sports associations and other local entities. If the results are positive, the project will be proposed on a larger scale.
“Listening Hearts” ever closer to patients
“Listening Hearts” ever closer to patients
Offering listening, relief and information, this is the mission of the service “Cuori in ascolto” created three years ago that has exceeded 300 requests satisfied and is enhancing the IT tools. Paola Baldassarri, one of the AICARM volunteers who manage it, highlights the importance of the human relationship in a situation of fragility on the part of those who ask for help. “Knowing that, even just for a moment, someone feels less alone thanks to our help is the most gratifying thing,” she says.
Wearable Devices: The Era of Personalized Care
Wearable Devices: The Era of Personalized Care
Wearable digital health technologies, such as smartwatches, fitness trackers and specialized medical devices, are revolutionizing healthcare. They enable real-time monitoring of important parameters for the heart, diabetes and epilepsy control. There are many advantages, thanks to early detection and the possibility of personalized care. The disadvantages include data management and protection and the possibility of false alarms. There is a need for improved accessibility, establishing standards and, above all, solid training for patients and doctors.
Sports and Cardiomyopathy, the new webinar season begins
The meeting with Professor Flavio D'Ascenzi of the University of Siena (Watch the recording) has opened the 2025 season of AICARM webinars that are increasingly attracting attention and participation, since patients are the protagonists and can interact through questions. For this reason, the appointments will now be held monthly. The next event, at the end of February, will be the Webinar on Dilated Cardiomyopathy, with Professor Gianfranco Sinagra from Trieste.
Let's explore Dilated Cardiomyopathy with Prof. Gianfranco Sinagra: causes, symptoms, diagnosis and treatments. An online meeting to learn about the latest developments and ask questions to the expert.
