From dialogue with patients, the priorities for Aicarm's activity in 2023

The audience of the Folco Portinari room of the Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze Foundation was completely filled with motivated and participatory people: the training course for expert patients in hereditary myocardial diseases, which was held in Florence on 5 November last, confirmed the growing attention which collects our work. As happened in Milan for the similar course for patients from Northern Italy which was held on October 28 in the Aula Magna of the Auxologico San Luca hospital. In expressing, on behalf of all, my satisfaction with the spread of a new awareness on the part of patients and doctors, I would like to underline how these courses not only allow the former to find answers to their doubts and uncertainties, but also allow doctors to put in focus the most urgent critical issues to be transformed into priorities in their programming. In particular, two issues emerged in the discussion with the participants in the Florentine course: the set of requirements and conditions for obtaining sports eligibility for a patient with cardiomyopathy and the medical and bureaucratic issues that hinder obtaining the renewal of the licence. Both of these issues will be addressed in the Aicarm program for 2023. Happy reading.
