On Sunday 4 December 2022, the naming ceremony of the local sports hall in memory of Marco Villetti took place in Pratolino, near Florence. In this gym in 2007 Marco was the victim of a cardiac arrest while he was playing soccer, due to an as yet undiagnosed cardiomyopathy. The ceremony was attended – representing AICARM Onlus – Marco Bruscaglioni, Paolo and Sofia Palma, and Prof. Olivotto who for the occasion spoke of the tragic, albeit rare, consequences of cardiomyopathies and thanked for the contribution offered to AICARM . The commemoration took place in an atmosphere of solidarity with the family and in particular with Marco's mother, Sandra, and it was also an opportunity to once again draw attention to the importance of training for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and for the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). During the ceremony, the local associations demonstrated the maneuvers to be performed in the event of cardiac arrest. They are simple maneuvers that everyone can learn to perform, and they really make a big difference while waiting for 118 to arrive, because they reduce the risk of any permanent neurological damage.

Sandra, Marco's mother, oversaw the organization of a charity event whose proceeds will be donated to AICARM for the promotion of knowledge on cardiomyopathy and training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation practices. AICARM sincerely thanks Sandra, to whom we embrace with a warm embrace, the Associations and all the citizens of Pratolino.
