On September 27th in Ragusa, a course dedicated to knowledge and support for those with cardiomyopathy will take place.
For the first time, the AICARM association is bringing its consolidated experience in training patients with cardiomyopathy to Sicily. On September 27, 2025, the Training Course for Expert Patients in Hereditary Myocardial Diseases will be held at the Hotel Poggio del Sole in Ragusa. Over 500 patients and their families in other cities have already participated, improving their ability to live with cardiomyopathy.
A high-level training offering with highly practical topics
For patients with cardiomyopathy and their families, the course offers access to excellent, completely free training. The program features speakers with extensive expertise and experience in the field of cardiomyopathy, from Sicilian and national referral centers.
The course program, organized in collaboration with the Dr. Antonino Nicosia, Director of Cardiology at the Giovanni Paolo II Hospital in Ragusa, provides participants with essential knowledge to increase awareness in managing their health journey. The course will begin with the basics: "What are Cardiomyopathies?" and "Important Diagnostic Tests," before tackling topics of great practical relevance such as "Physical Activity and Sports," "Contraception and Pregnancy," "Arrhythmias and Their Treatment," "Pacemakers and Defibrillators," and "Therapeutic Prospects."
The afternoon session will be dedicated to the very precious “Experiences of patients and their families“, which offer great practical and emotional help to participants, a sharing of personal stories, which is usually one of the most appreciated aspects of these courses.
During the course, participants will be able to actively participate in the discussion by asking questions to the speakers, who will answer the questions live..

Lifesaving training for family members
In parallel with the main course, a session dedicated to patients' families will be held on the topic "Emergency management and theoretical and practical basis of cardiopulmonary resuscitation“, held by the Dr. Gaetano Giarratana, head of the "Cardioprotected City" project for the Municipality of Vittoria and Scoglitti. This CPR course represents a crucial opportunity to acquire practical skills that can help save the lives of patients suffering from cardiac arrest.
"Knowledge makes us stronger: the AICARM course in Ragusa offers practical tools, testimonials, and lifesaving training for patients and families."
A core of the AICARM association for Sicily
This event is not only a training opportunity, but also an opportunity to strengthen AICARM's membership in Sicily, so that it can increasingly serve as a point of reference for patients with cardiomyopathy and their families. The goal is to create a local support network for patients and their families that can continue its work of raising awareness and providing assistance beyond this initial training event.
The invitation from AICARM
We invite Sicilian patients with cardiomyopathy and their families to participate in this course. As four years of experience have shown, quality information can improve living with this condition. After the course, participants consistently report feeling more confident in making health-related decisions, more prepared in meetings with specialists, and more at peace in facing daily challenges.
To enroll in the Expert Patient Course or the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation course, registration on the website is mandatory. www.aicarm.it. Participation is free.
The initiative is carried out with the unconditional support of Bristol Myers Squibb.
